Stop. Think. Reset.

I have been working under the name Samalla for 15+ years, but with so many things around me changing, I needed to pauze everything and rethink where I wanted to be and what I wanted to do. I will tell you a bit about where I came from.

Samalla 

I started becoming an independend artist after I got diagnosed with chronic pain and fatigue. I was not able to get a "normal" job anymore and got a disability check. I made a plan to not be staring at 4 walls the rest of my life. It started with LARP costumes and Bridal fashion. After a few years I got more into COSplay and theatre. I was present at renfairs and comiccons with a booth.

The end of Samalla

 Learned new skills along the way and was making mainly historical clothing till around 2022. I was very into researching the best way to create with all natural materials. This went so far that I was in a conflict with myself on making more clothing in a clothing overrun planet.

 

The pandemic years were rough. Besides trying to stay afloat in sales, I was moving and getting married. At a point my mental health was declining and I had to pull the breaks. I got divorced, moved again a few times and had some serious surgery. In this period I also got diagnosed with ADHD and am still in the process of dealing with that.

So after a long break I am back. I try not to overthink everything too much. This kept being my downfall. My mind was not made for this complicated way of making art. I can learn just about anything about bookkeeping, social media, algorithm etcetera.... but then I would not make art anymore, So here I am, on a simplified website with minimum possibilaties. I won't stretch myself on to many platforms. 

 

And what will I make?

With everything I learned, I will make my own designs. Wether it be fashion, costumes or something totally different. It's going to be all over the place and will probably have some socially activist meaning behind it.
